The ancient civilisation of Egypt is quite justly famous for the beautiful hieroglyphic inscriptions on tomb walls and the astonishing amount of papyrus documents discovered. Perhaps, what is less well-known is that these written sources cover an absolutely amazing range of subjects from laundry lists and love poems to last wills and testaments - offering us a fascinating and unique glimpse into the world of the Pharaohs, the Nobility and Working Men and Women. On this fully illustrated study day we shall discover and discuss a selection of topics, including: Royal decrees and Politics; Medicine, Magic and Murderous concerns; Religion and Moral Guidance; Stories of Wonder and Adventure. In addition, we shall consider the life of a scribe in ancient Egypt and his equipment.
