Mesoamerica is divided into five regions: the Occidente that is West Mexico comprising the states of Michoacan, Jalisco, Nayarit, Colima, Sinaloa and Guerrero; The Central Highlands with the States of Mexico, Guanajuato, Gueretaro, Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala; Oaxaca; the Maya Area including the States of Yucatan, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, and Central America until El Salvador; And the Gulf Coast with the States of Veracruz, Tabasco and Tamaulipas.
